World of Warcraft Dragonflight - Alexstrasza

For this expansion, I was responsible for Alexstrasza's new design and model and it is easily one of the most exciting things I have worked on so far. I love this character and she holds a special place in both my and many players heart. I think she's had so many great looks over the years across our games, and in fanart and cosplay. For Dragonflight, her new look needed to be regal, beautiful, and badass since she's coming back into an active role as the Queen of the Dragons. We went through a ton of different thumbnails (I put a few of them up here), there was a lot of adjustments, but eventually we settled on the final look. Modeling and painting her was really fun as well. I think one of my favorite bits of painting was on her face, I love doing makeup on characters and I figured she would definitely have some beautiful red makeup to go with her armor. I also couldn't resist giving her some freckles because I think they're really pretty and add some extra interest to her face. For her staff, I wanted to keep it somewhat simple since her armor was pretty extravagant. So, I stuck with a simple dragon wrapped protectively around an egg shaped gem that matches those hanging from her horns.
